why this club?
The club is a great way to brush up on your English.
You will delve into the language, learn vocabulary and grammar, and hone your speaking skills.
why short stories?
It might be a bit of a challenge to start reading in the original from bigger genres.
Reading something small at first gives you a sense of achievement. So it is motivational and rewarding.
Another reason is our attention span which, according to British Scientists, has dramatically shrunk in recent years. It is getting harder for us to focus on a long read. And also not everyone has enough time to read a lot.
With all this in mind, we decided to take it one step at a time.
However, we are definitely planning to launch a Reading Club for those who like reading novels. Just a bit later.
what is inside?
Each Reading Set consists of 6 short stories.
Access to the stories opens gradually.
Each text has pop-up boxes with explanations of the words, phrases, and tricky grammar issues.
After each text, you will get a small downloadable dictionary and access to a vocabulary learning platform.
After each story, you will get access to the zoom meeting to discuss the text and the related problems in a small group of like-minded people guided either by me or by Mike.
Reading Clubs
We read all-time classics written by well-known authors.
20st century Reading club covers the whole century literary paradigm from the modernistic pieces of the early 1920-s to post-modernistic stories of the 1980-s.
For those who are curious about contemporary writers, we have prepared a Club with pieces from the 21st century.
If you don’t yet feel comfortable enough, you can opt for the Easy Reading Club. It includes both contemporary and classic short stories. None of them is adapted or abridged. They are just a little bit more simple when it comes to the language.
